On the plus side the unit is well made and easy to set up and with a better, higher resolution built-in camera could be really useful.Subscribe to newsletter – for this enter your email address and click on “Subscribe” I did get some good photographs using this device but I had to observe the birds through binoculars from a bedroom window in order to judge when to take a photograph! Problems 1 and 2 would obviously be solved with a beefier battery supply for the DSLR since Live View could be used. I found that the wireless connection was unreliable indoors if I did not have a line of sight through a window for example. The DSLR I was controlling had a 300mm lens on and was set up about 12 feet from the target birds so as not to spook them.ģ. Instead of Live View I tried using the built in camera but I found that I had difficulty seeing what I was trying to photograph since the lens is fairly wide angle and the resolution of the camera is low. I don't have a grip so I can't comment on how much extra time you would get.Ģ. Leaving the camera in Live View quickly drains the camera battery so a battery grip or some external source of power for the camera is needed in practice. These are some of the problems I came across:ġ. I bought this device to photograph birds in my garden. If you want to connect to a D800 buy an HDMI to composite video converter such as as the Kaanan HDMI to composite/S-video converter. It won't work with a D800 as the D800 has no composite analogue video output. Note to all those who are buying a Nikon D800. My only down side would be the construction which is very plastic, rather fragile annd mosst cerrtainly not the slightest bit water resistant hence 4 stars. Range wise I had it working at 10 metres through two walls so very good. The transmitted image of live view is excellent, almost as good as on the camera its self. Quality wise the in-built camera is OK in good light. The in-built video gives a wide view so if you use on your camera with a telephoto lens (as I do) the live view from the camera will be very different from the in-built camera image. On switch on the receiver found the transmitter within seconds. A simple connction to the release socket on thee camera (cable supplied) and a video connection to the composite video out of the camera (lead not supplied) is all you need to do. Operation wise it worked straight out of the box. As supplied it came complete with batteries which was a nice touch. I bought this for use with a Nikon D300 so I could snap birds on the bird table remotely. direct power from laptop, external Li-ion battery packs AC/DC Adapter or Solar 5 V source.) Box Contains Built in Mini USB socket offers an unlimited additional power options (e.g. Fore more power and environmentally friendly rechargeable Ni-MH AA can also be used. Universal Power source The Inspire can be powered with AA Alkaline batteries (8xAA included), which can be easily replaced. Whilst you control one camera, the other receivers go into sleep mode conserving power. Switch between the LiveView scene of each camera from the transmitter at the touch of a button. Multiple Remote Camera control The Inspire will allow you to control 4 different receivers connected to 4 different DSLRs. Then playback the pictures in the Inspire transmitter without havinmg to go back to the camera. Playback The Inspire allows the saving of images taken. The built-in CMOS Camera on the receiver sends a LiveView of the camera scene to the LCD on the handheld transmitter. Cameras which do not have an AV output or LiveView feature can still be used. as it allows you to monitor the scene prior to switching to zoomed-in DSLR LiveView to take the shot.Ĭamera Compatibility Built in Phono socket allows easy connection with the Camera AV output (use the AV cable supplied with camera). If your DSLR lens is set in a close-up zoom, the built-in CMOS camera in the Inspire receiver is a seperate, convenient wide-angle LiveView for surveying the overall scene.
